KuSon is a self-exclusion app for people who want to stop gambling. You install it yourself and decide what it blocks on your own phone. This policy explains what data the KuSon app and kuson.net use, why, who processes it and what rights you have. It follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and if you live in the EU, EEA or UK you have all the rights it gives you.
1. Who we are
KuSon is provided by KORACL MMC ("we", "us"), which is responsible for the personal data described in this policy (the "controller"). For any privacy question or request, write to support@kuson.net.
2. What stays on your phone
To block gambling, KuSon checks the apps you open and the addresses and page titles of the sites you visit (on Android with the Accessibility service, on iPhone with Apple's Screen Time and a site filter). This check happens only on your phone. KuSon does not collect, store or send the apps you use, the sites you visit or anything you type.
Your savings, your rewards and any spend amount you change later in the app also stay on your phone. Only the answers to the optional questions at first launch are sent to us (see section 3).
3. What we store on our server
We store only the following:
- a random account ID created when you first open the app (you don't create an account with a name or password);
- a device ID and the device code shown in the app (for example KS-7F3A-91C2), the phone model, operating system, app version and language;
- your active locks, auto-locks and their end dates, so they come back if you reinstall the app;
- the date your clean-day counter started;
- whether a subscription or licence is active (payments are handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card details);
- on Android: the length you chose for your gambling lock, whether KuSon's settings are on or off (Accessibility, uninstall protection, battery optimisation, notifications) and when uninstall protection was turned off, so our support team can help if protection stops. Only on or off, never what the service sees;
- early-unlock requests you send: the lock concerned, the reason you write and the email address you give us for our reply;
- reports of sites or apps that were not blocked, with an optional screenshot you choose to attach;
- a push notification token, so we can tell you about decisions on your requests;
- if you answer the optional questions when you first open the app: the types of gambling, how often and for how many years you have gambled, your usual amount and its currency, whether you have gambling debt and to whom, what makes you want to gamble, your savings goal and the app language. We never ask your name. If you skip the questions, nothing is saved or sent;
- if you add a supporter: their email address, the name you type in the invite and whether they confirmed. We only send them the invite and, if KuSon is deleted while a lock is on, one notice; we never send your locks, apps or sites. Removing the supporter in Settings deletes this data;
- if you write to live support in the app: your messages and the screenshots you attach, so our team can answer you. Only you and our support team can see them. They are deleted automatically 6 months after the last message;
- on iPhone, if you let KuSon create your Screen Time passcode, that passcode, so it can be shown to you only after an approved unlock.
4. What we don't collect
We don't ask for your name, phone number, contacts, photos (other than a screenshot you choose to attach to a report) or location. We don't use advertising identifiers, advertising networks or analytics tools that track you, and we don't build a profile of you for marketing.
Exception: if you add a supporter, we keep the name you type (so it appears in the invite) and their email address (see section 3).
5. Why we use it and our legal basis
- To provide the service you asked for (performance of our contract with you): keeping your locks, restoring them after a reinstall, checking your subscription and handling unlock requests.
- To reply to you and keep you informed about your requests (performance of contract; your email address is given by you for this purpose).
- To keep the service safe and improve the list of blocked gambling sites and apps (our legitimate interest in a working and secure service).
- To meet legal obligations, for example responding to lawful requests from authorities.
- Answers to the optional first-launch questions (your consent): to set your savings counter and goal and, as combined statistics, to understand who uses KuSon and improve it. You can skip the questions and ask us to delete your answers at any time.
Using a self-exclusion app may say something about your health. We treat all KuSon data as sensitive, use it only to provide the service you chose and never use it for advertising.
6. Who processes your data
We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with service providers that help us run KuSon and act on our instructions:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC / Google Ireland): database, sign-in with a random ID, server functions, website hosting and Android push notifications;
- Apple Push Notification service: push notifications on iPhone;
- Resend: delivering the email that tells our team about a new unlock request (lock, reason, email address and device code);
- Resend: delivering the invite and notice emails to your supporter (their email address and the name you typed);
- Google Play and the Apple App Store: subscriptions and payments, under their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a buyer if KuSon is sold, under the same protections.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses offered by the providers.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your device uses KuSon. Unlock requests and reports are kept as long as your device's data is kept, so decisions stay consistent. If you ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep part of it.
9. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access limited by security rules, so each device can only reach its own data. Only authorised team members can see unlock requests, and the admin panel is protected with two-step verification. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will act and notify you where the law requires if a breach occurs.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- know what data we hold about you and get a copy;
- have incorrect data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- object to or restrict certain uses;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- complain to the data protection authority in your country (in the EU, the supervisory authority of the country where you live or work).
To use these rights, write to support@kuson.net and include your device code from Settings in the app, so we can find your data. We reply within one month. Deleting your data also removes your saved locks from our server.
You can also follow the steps on our Delete your data page.
11. This website
kuson.net does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. If you choose a language, your choice is saved only in your own browser. Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver and protect the website.
12. Children
KuSon is meant for adults aged 18 or over and is not directed at children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when KuSon changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app.
