How to stop gambling and betting ads on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Telegram
Step-by-step guide to hiding gambling, betting, and casino ads on Google, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram, plus how to block gambling links opened inside social media apps.
When you are trying to quit gambling, the hardest triggers often find you when you are not even looking for them. You open Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube to unwind, and within seconds you see a "welcome bonus" ad, a clip of a streamer hitting a slot jackpot, or a Telegram message offering "guaranteed" sports tips.
Algorithms learn fast. If you ever searched for odds, watched a casino stream, or tapped a betting link, ad networks tag your profile as interested in gambling and keep serving those ads across every platform.
Below is how to turn off gambling ad topics across Google, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram — and how to block the unofficial betting links that ad settings never catch.
1. Block gambling links that open inside social media apps
Turning off ad topics reduces official ads from licensed bookmakers, but it does not stop the biggest source of relapse on social media: unofficial promoter pages, "link in bio" mirror sites, and referral links in comments or Telegram channels.
When you tap a link inside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Telegram, it usually opens in the app's own built-in browser rather than Chrome or Safari. Browser extensions and simple ad blockers cannot see inside these in-app browsers.
KuSon is built specifically for this:
- On Android, KuSon watches for gambling and betting URLs across all browsers and inside the built-in browsers of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Telegram, and X, closing the page immediately before it loads.
- On iPhone, KuSon blocks thousands of gambling and casino domains at the system level, so betting links fail to load no matter which app you tap them in.
Tip: combine a device-level blocker like KuSon with the platform ad settings below. The ad settings clean up your feed so you see fewer triggers, while KuSon catches any link you tap in a weak moment.
2. Turn off gambling ad topics on Google and YouTube
Google controls the ads you see on Google Search, YouTube, Gmail, and millions of websites and Android apps. You can restrict gambling ads in one place:
- Open your Google Account and go to My Ad Center (myadcenter.google.com).
- Tap Customize Ads at the top of the screen, then select the Sensitive tab.
- Find Gambling in the list of sensitive ad categories.
- Switch the toggle to See fewer.
This tells Google and YouTube to limit ads from online casinos, sportsbooks, and lottery apps across every device signed in to your Google account. While it does not remove every unlicensed ad, it cuts out the vast majority of betting video ads before YouTube videos.
3. Hide betting and casino ads on Instagram and Facebook
Meta uses a shared ad profile for both Instagram and Facebook. Changing your preference in one app updates both:
- Open Instagram or Facebook and go to Settings and privacy.
- Tap Accounts Center at the top, then choose Ad preferences.
- Select Ad topics (or Manage info -> Ad topics).
- Search for or select Gambling and choose See less.
Because many casino promoters post reels and stories as regular content rather than paid ads, also filter out gambling words from your feed:
- In Instagram Settings and privacy, tap Suggested content.
- Tap Specific words and phrases.
- Enter common triggers in your language, such as `casino`, `slot`, `bet`, `bonus`, `parlay`, `jackpot`, and `aviator`.
4. Reset your TikTok feed and filter keywords
TikTok's For You feed reacts mostly to how long you pause on a video. Even watching a slot clip for five seconds teaches the algorithm to send more.
To filter gambling content and reset your recommendations:
- Open TikTok, tap your Profile, and open the menu (☰) -> Settings and privacy.
- Tap Content preferences -> Filter video keywords.
- Add keywords like `casino`, `betting`, `slots`, `gambling`, `bonus`, and local betting brand names, and apply them to both For You and Following feeds.
- If your feed is still full of casino clips, go back to Content preferences and tap Refresh your For You feed to start with a clean slate.
Whenever a betting clip slips through, long-press the video and tap Not interested immediately without watching it.
5. Stop spam betting channels and messages on Telegram
Many offshore casinos and fake "fixed match" tipsters use Telegram bots to add users into betting groups without permission. You can lock this down in seconds:
- Open Telegram and go to Settings -> Privacy and Security.
- Tap Invites (or Groups & Channels).
- Change Who can add me from Everybody to My Contacts (or Nobody).
- Under Exceptions, make sure no unknown users are allowed.
Leave and report any remaining betting, signal, or bonus channels right away. Keeping even one "just to watch" keeps the urge alive.
